Amlodipine Besylate is a calcium channel blocker, specifically a dihydropyridine derivative, that is used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain). It works by relaxing the blood vessels, allowing the heart to pump more efficiently and reducing the workload on the heart.

Mechanism of Action:
Amlodipine Besylate blocks the influx of calcium ions into cardiac and smooth muscle cells, which results in the relaxation of vascular smooth muscles and reduces peripheral resistance and blood pressure. This leads to improved blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart.
Indications:
Primarily used for the management of hypertension.
Also effective in treating stable angina pectoris by improving myocardial perfusion.
